ERC Alternative Spring Break
In the spirit of ERC’s mission of scholarship, leadership and service, the college is hosting an Alternative Spring Break opportunity to Atlanta, Georgia. An Alternative Spring Break is a national or international service and learning trip that uses education of social justice issues combined with quality direct service to have a lasting impact on students and the communities in which they serve. The topic for 2025 is Civil Rights. Students who participate in this experience are required to attend mandatory meetings in Winter Quarter to prepare them for this experience by providing the academic foundation for the topic. These meetings will also include sessions about fundraising and preparation for this trip.
Given that Atlanta is known as the “Cradle of the Civil Rights Movement” the trip will include several
opportunities to visit various sites that were pivotal to the movement. The itinerary will also focus on
prominent civil rights leaders including, most notably, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Mrs. King, President Carter and Rosa Parks. The tentative schedule is provided below.
