Entry Level Writing Requirement

The University of California requires all undergraduate students, including international students, to demonstrate a minimum proficiency in English composition. You must demonstrate proficiency in English composition by the end of your first year at UC San Diego. Visit the ELWR page to learn how to fulfill this requirement.

If you are unable to fulfill this requirement through qualifying test scores, you must complete the UC San Diego Writing Placement Process (WPP) before the beginning of your first quarter.
