Parking at UC San Diego is extremely limited. All classes are in walking distance from the ERC Residence Halls, Apartments and the ERC Administration Building, making the use of an automobile on campus unnecessary. While students having cars on campus is not prohibited, it is not recommended and will cause further congestion on the UC San Diego campus in finding parking. UC San Diego provides an extensive network of free shuttles that conveniently transport faculty, staff, and students to various UC San Diego and off-campus locations. Additionally, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) services the UC San Diego area with a number of buses.
Parking meters are available at a rate of 25¢ per 15 minutes. Meters are located in the Pangea Parking Structure and in various surface lots throughout campus. One-day permits are available at the visitor information kiosks at the Gilman Drive and North Point Drive entrances, or at the main Parking Office in the Gilman Parking Structure. A one-day permit is $7. You can park in any V, B or S spot all day, and in A or metered spots after 4:30 p.m. or before 7:45 a.m. Weekend parking on the main campus is free in all spaces (Except those marked as ―Reserved).
