UC San Diego does have an Escort Service for students who may not feel comfortable walking alone on campus. The Community Service Officer (CSO) Escort Program (534-WALK) is available daily from sunset until 1:00 a.m. After 1 a.m., this service may be handled by other police department personnel. Students can also use the campus shuttle from 7:00 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. with stops located throughout campus and outlying parking lots.
Yes, UC San Diego does have a Police Department. UC San Diego Police Officers receive the same basic training as city and county officers throughout the state, plus additional training. Primary jurisdiction of the UC San Diego Police De-partment is the university campus, university property, and facilities located off campus.
The student, or possibly a person with the student, would call the University Police Department 858-534-4357 (or 911 in case of Emergency) and the dispatcher would then contact local emergency medical services for emergency medical attention.
