 Freshman Family Orientation

Family Orientation is an opportunity to welcome parents to the ERC and the greater campus community and to initiate relationships involving parents, the University, and the College supportive of students' needs.

Our Family Orientation program also provides information that can assist the family with the student's and family's transition, including:

  • The College system and UCSD's educational expectations
  • Information about student development and anticipated evolution of the parent-students relationship
  • Availability of student services and support networks for students
  • Introduction to college staff and campus contacts
  • Awareness of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA

To register for a Family Orientation session, your son or daughter must register you when he/she registers for his/her own orientation session.

Freshmen/Family Orientation Dates:

Session 1: June 17-18 (2 day session, Thursday-Friday with overnight housing option)

Session 2: June 21-22 (2 day session, Monday-Tuesday with overnight housing option)

Session 3: September 16-17 (2 day session, Thursday-Friday)

Session 4: September 17-18 (2 day session, Friday-Saturday)

Note: Yom Kippur begins at sundown on September 18, 2010
