When will my Orientation Session start and end?

Orientation begins at 8:15 am and ends by 2:00 pm.

How do I get to ERC Orientation?

Driving Directions:

  • Take Interstate - 5 Freeway
  • Exit on La Jolla Village Dr. and head west
  • Continue on La Jolla Village Dr. The road will become North Torrey Pines Road
  • Continue straight on North Torrey Pines Road
  • Turn Right at Pangea Drive
  • Proceed to the Stop Sign at the Top of Pangea Drive
  • Turn Left onto Scholar's Drive North
  • Pangea Parking Structure Entrance is on your left - please enter there.

If you prefer to use your own GPS Navigation Device or App, majority of applications recognize "Pangea Parking Structure" as a final destination.  Here is the link to Google Map's directions to Pangea Parking Structure: https://goo.gl/maps/RRttXCBw4GG2

*Please note - There is construction occurring on the I-5 Freeway right near the University - please prepare for heavy traffic and possible delays.*

Where do I get a parking permit? Where should I park?

Parking Permits will only be given to Students who are driving themselves to campus.  You will receive your parking permit from a parking attendant when you enter the Pangea Parking structure. We will not hand out parking permits before 6:45 am. Parking Permits are not needed on weekdays until 7:00 am - if you arrive before 6:45 am, please just wait for the parking attendants to arrive and then you may go get your permit.

*If you are being dropped off we will NOT be supplying you with a parking permit.

Permit Holder: You MUST park in a designated YELLOW "S" spot or GREEN "B" spot or you WILL be ticketed. PLACE THE PARKING PERMIT DATE SIDE UP ON YOUR FRONT DASHBOARD.

Make sure the permit can be easily seen. UC San Diego Parking WILL TICKET if your permit is not visible or if they cannot clearly see the date/time. If you have any questions regarding parking and/or parking permits please ask a parking attendant or Staff Member!

 If you arrive AFTER 8:45 am, you will be responsible for purchasing your own parking permit and will need to purchase one from the electronic kiosks.

Note: ERC is NOT responsible for ANY parking citations. If you aren't sure about something please ASK SOMEONE. Parking Tickets are upwards of $65.00 per violation.  You can appeal your parking citation by visiting http://blink.ucsd.edu/facilities/transportation/citations/appeal.html

Late students cannot be accommodated. Please arrive on time and make plans to remain on campus until the end of the program. If you arrive late you must purchase your own temporary parking permit from one of the electronic kiosks located on the top floor of Pangea parking structure.

Will there be food at Orientation?

We will provide a light continental breakfast (pastries, coffee & water), and some appetizers to hold you over until 2:00pm. We recommend that you eat something prior to your arrival at orientation and that you bring a snack if you know that you will get hungry throughout the morning.

If you have any dietary restrictions then be sure to indicate that on the new student site on your registration page.  If you do not let us know of any dietary restrictions at least 2 weeks in advance of your orientation then we will not be able to accommodate your needs.

I'm having problems getting my Email Verified - What do I do?

If your UC San Diego Email is activated and you are receiving Emails to your UC San Diego account but you have not received the Email Verification Code, please first check your Spam Folder.  Often times the email with the code goes to students' spam folder.  If you still cannot find your verification code please email us at ercmail@ucsd.edu. In your email, please your First and Last Name and your Student PID number.

If you have not already set up your UC San Diego Email account or you are having trouble accessing your account please go through the ETS Troubleshooting Steps.  You can find that help on their website: http://acms.ucsd.edu/students/accounts-and-passwords/start.html. If after trying those troubleshooting steps you are still not able to get your email working you must contact ETS directly.  We cannot help you set up your email or solve any login related issues.  Only ETS can help you with the email issues.

The New Student Site is not working - I'm having problems with the Site.

What should I bring to orientation?

Please bring a light jacket or sweatshirt, bottled water, a snack if you think you will need one and most importantly be ready for fun.

Which Session should I attend?

You will select the Session that works best for you.

PLEASE NOTE THAT REGISTRATION IS ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS!  Once a session is full it is full!  Please register early to increase your chances of attending your first choice session.  If the session you want is full please email ercmail@ucsd.edu to be added to a waitlist.  Waitlist spots are not a guarantee  We are limited in space capacity for the rooms we are in and must cut off enrollment at a certain point.

ALL INCOMING UC SAN DIEGO STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ORIENTATION!

How do I pay for Orientation?

Students will NOT pay for Orientation separately. 

The Orientation fee will be added to the students' UC San Diego billing statement.  The Orientation Fee will show on either the August or October Billing Statement.  To check your UC San Diego Billing Statement log onto Tritonlink at http://mytritonlink.ucsd.edu.

You do NOT need to worry about paying for your Orientation Session at the time of registration.  The Orientation Fee will show up as one of many fees you will pay to the university in Fall.

If I'm living on campus can I move in early - maybe closer to my orientation date?

General Move-In for New Students is Saturday, September 23, 2017.  Since you will be attending Orientation the week before that, if you would like to move-in earlier than that Saturday you will need to make those arrangements on your own through the Housing Department.

I'm an International Student - what else do I need to do?

If you are registered with the university as an International student you will need to attend both your ERC Orientation Session AND an International Student Orientation.  You must register for these separately.

What is the Change/Cancellation & Late Registration Policy?

Change/Cancellation and Late Registration Policy

Please carefully assess any needs to change or cancel your orientation program based on the following information:
  • The College Orientation program is MANDATORY for all students. The College Orientation program and program fee is mandatory for all students.  You will be charged for the Orientation Program and held responsible for all materials discussed regardless of attendance. If there is ANY reason you will not be attending the Orientation session you signed up for you need to contact the college at 858-534-2237 or via email at ercmail@ucsd.edu at LEAST 5 full business days in advance.
  • You can change your session only one-time online BEFORE Tuesday, July 11 without being charged a $25.00 change/late registration fee.  Return to the "Session Sign-Up" tab located to the left side of the page to make this change.  Any additional changes, regardless of the date will incur a $25.00 change/late registration fee.
  • A $25.00 Change/Late Registration Fee WILL be charged for any registrations or changes made AFTER JULY 11, 2017. If you need to register or make a change to your session after the July 11 deadline you must do so by emailing us at ercmail@ucsd.edu or calling 858-534-2237 Monday - Friday between 9:00am - 4:00pm.
For those students with Financial Aid - The Orientation Fee is covered by Financial Aid.  The College Orientation program and program fee is mandatory for all students.  The Orientation Fee is non-refundable.  Financial Aid will not pay the orientation fee for students who attend the orientation session but to not enroll in fall classes.

Where and when do I take the math placement exam?

Can my family members or friends come to orientation?

No - Unfortunately we do not provide a family transfer program; the Orientation Sessions are just for incoming ERC Transfer Students.

If your family member would like to come to the campus and explore on their own while you are in Orientation that is completely fine.  We suggest exploring this website for a list of options of guided tours or things to see on campus: https://ucsd.edu/about/visiting-tours/index.html.

I want to make sure my transcripts got to UCSD - where do I go?

You will want to check on the Admissions Website https://admissions.ucsd.edu/transfers/timeline.html to see what needs to be turned in by when.  You will want to check my application to see what things have been completed.
