Frequent Questions about the New Student Site

I can't move on to the next page of the site. What do I do?

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click "next."  You must complete each page before you can move on to the following page.  You will only be able to visit pages that you have already completed.

Email Verification - I haven't received it yet - what do I do?

If you can access your UC San Diego E-Mail Account but you have not received the verification email please first check your Spam Folder.  If you still have not received your verification email within 24-48 hours please notify ERC immediately. Email us at ercmail@ucsd.edu and include your First and Last name and your Student PID number (the number starting with the letter "A").

If you are not able to login to your UC San Diego E-Mail account, first make sure you have activated your UC San Diego E-Mail.  For instructions on how to activate and access your UC San Diego E-Mail account please visit http://myapplication.ucsd.edu .  Should you still have trouble - please refer to the troubleshooting steps on the Academic Computing and Media Services (ACMS) website for newly admitted students for more help regarding your email account: http://acms.ucsd.edu/info/newadmits.html .

How do I get my Orientation Confirmation?

Once you complete all of the Academics pages you will be able to access your Orientation Confirmation.  You can return to the site any time before the registration deadline to print your confirmation from the "Orientation Confirmation" tab.  You are NOT CONFIRMED for your Orientation Session UNTIL AFTER YOU complete the Academic information.

How will I be charged for Orientation?

Students do not pay for Orientation Separately.  Orientation Fees are added directly to your UC San Diego Student Bill.  You will see this fee as part of your First Bill to the University.

On the Session Sign Up page I don't see any Freshman September Sessions?

Priority Registration for the September Freshman Orientation Sessions is given to Out-of-State and International Students.  After the Priority Registration is done and we have opened the September Sessions to all incoming ERC Freshman we will send out an E-mail letting everyone know that you have access to the September Sessions.

If you are a California Resident and know you will not be able to attend a June Session please be sure to follow the instructions on the New Student Site on how to request for an exception to attend a September Session.

Academic Pages - How can I change something if I made a mistake or the Information is incorrect?

You can email ERC Academic Advising at ercadvising@ucsd.edu Be sure to include your First and Last Name, your Student PID Number (the number that starts with the letter "A") and an explanation of what needs to be changed on your Academic Background Pages.

How can my parent/family member register for Orientation?

We only have Family Orientation Sessions available to new Freshman Families.

New Freshman

You can send your family member an invitation through the New Student Site (you'll see it as part of your Session Sign Up Page).  That email invitation will have a special link for your family member to use to sign up for the Parent/Family Orientation Session. Please make sure you know what email you should use for your family member and that your family member is aware of the Orientation Session you will be attending.

Your Parent/Family Member will need to know your First and Last Name, UC San Diego Email and your Student PID number.  The fee is $70.00 per person before the June 6 Deadline and $95.00 per person after the June 6 Deadline.

NOTE: Sending the Email Invitation does NOT mean your parent/family member is registered for a session and does not guarantee them a space!  They must complete the registration and payment process separately in order to attend.

**Because of our increase in numbers, limited room sizes and our desire to accommodate as many families as possible there is a limit of 1 parent/family member and/or guardian per ERC student.  We wish we could accommodate every individual who would like to attend - we really appreciate your understanding.  Should space be available to allow registration of an additional person we will notify everyone via email.
