Frequent Questions about the New Student Site

I can't move on to the next page of the site. What do I do?

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click "next."  You must complete each page before you can move on to the following page.  You will only be able to visit pages that you have already completed.

I haven't received my email verification yet. What do I do?

If you can access your UC San Diego email account but you have not received the verification email please first check your Spam Folder.  If you still have not received your verification email within 24-48 hours please notify ERC immediately. Email us at ercmail@ucsd.edu and include your First and Last name and your Student PID number (the number starting with the letter "A").

If you are not able to login to your UC San Diego email account, first make sure you have activated your UC San Diego email.

Should you still have trouble - please refer to the troubleshooting steps provided by Academic Computing and Media Services (ACMS).

Academic Pages - How can I change something if I made a mistake or the information is incorrect?

You can email ERC Academic Advising at ercadvising@ucsd.edu Please include your First and Last Name, your Student PID Number (the number that starts with the letter "A") and an explanation of what needs to be changed on your Academic Background Pages.

How will I be charged for Orientation?

Orientation Fees are added directly to your UC San Diego Student Bill.  You will see this fee as part of your First Bill to the University. Students do not pay for Orientation separately.

The College Orientation program is mandatory for all incoming UC San Diego students - all incoming students will be charged this fee.  The Orientation Fee is non-refundable.  Financial Aid will not pay the orientation fee for students who attend orientation but then do not enroll in fall quarter classes.

 

Freshman Orientation:

 

June Orientation Fee

  • June 21-22, 2018 Session: $255.00 Orientation Fee ($210.00 Program Fee + $45.00 Overnight Housing Fee)

 

September Orientation Fees

Residents choosing to move in prior to their Orientation session:

  • September 19, 2018 Session: $210.00 Orientation Program Fee (+ 4 nights at $45/night = $180 Housing Fee)
    • If you choose to move in prior to the standard move-in day (Saturday, September 22nd), you will need to do so on September 18th. You cannot move-in on the same day as your Orientation session. You will also be charged a $45/night early move-in fee by Housing.
  • September 20, 2018 Session: $210.00 Orientation Program Fee (+ 3 nights at $45/night = $135 Housing Fee)
    • If you choose to move in prior to the standard move-in day (Saturday, September 22nd), you will need to do so on September 19th. You cannot move-in on the same day as your Orientation session. You will also be charged a $45/night early move-in fee by Housing.
  • September 21, 2018 Session: $210.00 Orientation Program Fee (+ 2 nights at $45/night = $90 Housing Fee)
    • If you choose to move in prior to the standard move-in day (Saturday, September 22nd), you will need to do so on September 20th. You cannot move-in on the same day as your Orientation session. You will also be charged a $45/night early move-in fee by Housing.
  • September 24, 2018 Session: $210.00 Orientation Program Fee 
    • Your Housing Contract starts on Saturday, September 22nd.You cannot move-in on the same day as your Orientation session. 

Off-Campus Students and Residents choosing to move in on or after the standard Move-In Day (Saturday, September 22nd):

  • September 19, 2018 Session: $210.00 
  • September 20, 2018 Session: $210.00 
  • September 21, 2018 Session: $210.00 
  • September 24, 2018 Session: $210.00 

Transfer Orientation:

 

  • September 15 Session: $130.00
  • September 17 Session: $130.00

 

How do I get my Orientation Confirmation?

Once you complete all of the Academic pages you will be able to access your Orientation Confirmation.  You can return to the site any time before the registration deadline to print your confirmation from the "Orientation Confirmation" tab.  You are not confirmed for your Orientation Session until after you complete the Academic information.
