You’ve transferred into ERC and UCSD at a very exciting time. For the first time ever UCSD has on-campus housing available to transfer students in their OWN community. What does this mean for you? More services geared toward transfers with more understanding of what it means to be a transfer student coming into a major university, whether you live on or off campus.
There has been a tremendous effort by administrators to make a transfer’s assimilation much smoother into the UCSD system. Support from Transfer Student Services, Commuter Student Services, The Village at Torrey Pines, Student Affairs, Academic Advising and social clubs like Eleanor’s Transfers and Commuters or the All-Campus Transfer Association abound with activities and resources to make your two (or three) years exciting, fun, and rewarding. Get involved in club and leadership opportunities. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, socialize, and make new friends. Take advantage of these great resources that are specially created for YOU.
Make the most of your time here and remember to enjoy yourself!
2009-2010 Transfer Ambassadors
Jill Kennedy and Michael Kohanfars
Jill Kennedy is a senior majoring in Theatre. Originally from El Centro, California, Jill transferred to ERC last fall and has wasted no time getting involved.
A member of ETC and co-president for a year, she is now a Transfer Ambassador and orientation assistant.
She is the transfer rep for SCERC and received ERC's Outstanding Transfer of the Year two years in a row.
Some of Jill’s favorite things at UCSD are shopping at the Farmer’s Market on Tuesdays, exploring the Bookstore, eating at the Price Center and taking recreation classes.
While you’ll often find Jill hanging out in ERC’s Commuter Lounge, she hopes eventually to find herself in Boston attending graduate school for lighting design. Wherever she goes, Jill brings her talents and her five tattoos (three of which are hidden) with her!
Michael Kohanfars is a senior majoring in computer science. He is originally from The Valley, Encino to be specific. He transferred in spring 2008 and is doing everything that he can to get involved in as many school activities as possible. Michael has received the ERC commuter award last year and is also the President of the Eleanor’s Transfers and Commuters Organization (ETC).
Michael hopes to eventually earn a PhD in computer science, where after he will become a professor.
Some of Michael's favorite things to do at UCSD is hang out with friends by the rock bear at Warren College, library walk, or just wonder around finding new things about UCSD. Whether it be from something he said or did, wherever Michael goes, there seems to be laughter following.
